Team Management and Online Booking
Philip Ferreira
There are two issues tied to team management and online booking that I think could be solved by adding a lead tech to the job.
Issue 1: In team management, you can assign a skill to a tech based on job types. if you leave it blank, it default to "they can do everything" which is kind of find until we get to online booking in the next paragraph. When you have a new tech (in training), or a helper, they don't need to have a defined skill, but you still want to be able to add them to a job so maybe to leave their skills field blank.
The problem comes then when you set up online booking, and set availability but tech and job type, which is ideal because you can set the job time by job type and it would work week. However, the new tech I mentioned above, now has all the skills to do ever job and can be booked for EVERYTHING. This causes problems.
Start adding skills to the new tech and then you can't add the tech to jobs where the job type does not mach the skills, so we back to the start again. I hope this makes it clear.
Issue 2: When it comes to automations, under job you can add "Assigned Tech" which is {...}tech_names. when used, it just umps all the names together, separated by a comma. This is not great because by way of example, if you have more than one tech, the messsage would read, "Hi Mr. Jones, this is Sam Smith, James Wilks, Patty Stevens with Company ABC. I am on my way and expect to arrive at 9 am. See the problem?
Solution: Please create a Lech Tech for each job. This lead tech then has to have the skill, defined by job type, to do the job and can also be uses in automations. This would resolve the online booking issue too. In addition, This may also help in performance pay where the lead is on a different percentage.
