searchable custom fields

Hi, I have created custom fields for my clients with important information to each job. However I can not search these fields. For example, if I need to find my offices that use the program Dentrix, (which I created an office software dropdown) I can not search for it. It would be helpfull to make this info something I can search for.
Thank you,
Valerie

It looks like searchable Custom Fields is now an option, though I do not remember seeing any notification of this update.

Searchable Custom Fields

Searching within the system can be difficult, especially for a technician out in the field who is more technically limited thru a phone as opposed to a computer. With a large number of services or items, locating the correct one is not a straightforward process. The current search engine is extremely character and order specific which puts a hard limit on how specific items or services are looked up within the system. Furthermore, you cannot create any shortcuts or search via custom fields. To illustrate this, I will provide an example. If we have a service in our system, such as:
C0300 - cable thru overflow up to 25'- Bath tub
If you input these words or characters out of order, you are left with nothing. It would be a big improvement to be able to search keywords, such as: clog, tub clog, blocked tub, etc which would speed up the efficiency of everyone in our company but mainly our field technicians.
Thank you for you assistance with this matter!

Custom Field to be searchable

Custom field are good but can be best if I will be able to search and find jobs based on custom field inputs.

We have been asking for this for over a year and it is not even on the planned list yet. What is the point of custom fields if you cannot search or report on them? Come on, can we get this on the list?
Chris Holmes
Is there any plans to do this? This would be the single most useful feature I can think of. There have been so many requests for this, yet you continue to add features that are nowhere near as important to most users. Please add this to the list!

WorkIz has great features that I use often, however, running my business is still often complicated. I pay workIz to make it less complicated, which is the point of this message. The search engine for workiz needs some serious improving. At this moment, I have gotten a part in for a job, One of at least 50 open jobs I might add, and I cannot figure out whom it belongs to. I can only search the generic fields on the workorder. I understand It might be a bit involved to allow me to search custom fields that I created, however, There shouldn't be ANY reason that I cannot search something on the items section......Currently would like to search a part number, but I cannot. I would also like to add that I requested another feature last year, a VERY necessarry one, that still has yet to be implemented.....Where I can Use the sales report to get my financials for the month, but I need a PAID DATE filter added. WorkIz sold me on their software with the promise that they would meet my needs in business.....As of now, I regret my decision to use workiz. I am a field tech as well as owner/operator, I NEED the office aspect of my company to take as little time and energy as possible......Otherwise, I would just hire an assistant to keep everything organized. Please make good on your advertising and make my business less difficult to manage and operate.

This is a must and has been requested multiple times for a while. They keep rolling out new features that no one cares about and the ones everyone asks for never happen. Don’t get it.

If this doest get fixed soon Im looking into another software. I have to be able to search previous custom field serial #'s because we do too many jobs for 1 customer

I agree with this. Really like to be able to search custom fields. We use them for the address we are moving clients to, and really need to be able to find those jobs later.
