Auto Time Tracking
Ron Hamilton
I would like to request that Workiz implement automatic time tracking that begins when a technician selects In‑Route or On‑Site, and stops when the technician marks the job as Done or Complete.
Requiring technicians to manually start and stop their timers introduces avoidable inconsistencies and frequent errors, which creates ongoing administrative burden and reduces the accuracy of our reporting. Automating this process would significantly improve accountability, streamline payroll and billing, and ensure that time data reflects actual job activity rather than manual user input.

+1 from Nonstop Locksmith in Chicago. We just moved from Service Fusion, where our techs changed the job status to "Traveling" when they left and "Working" when they arrived. That gave us travel time and on-site time separately on every job, and we used both to calculate real job profit margins.
In Workiz, time only counts if techs remember to tap Start and Stop, and there's no way to tell drive time from on-site time on the same job. We'd love to see:
- A timer that starts automatically when a job goes "en route" and switches to on-site time when the tech arrives
- Travel and on-site time shown separately on the job, included in labor cost and profit, and available in reports
Accurate job costing depends on this for us.

Exactly this would not work for us because we go from the arrived status to an order parts status. But I like this concept and it would greatly help.

Yes this would be great
